The Enemy of personal fulfillment

From the title above, most people would think am going to mention somebody or something as your enemy. you are wrong if that is what you are thinking. Not withstanding, am going to give you a clue about your worst enemy. Here is a little exercise i would like you to carry out. Take a full length mirror or any mirror, stand in front of it. Whoever or whatever you see is your worst enemy.

Not what you are expecting right? Well that is the plain old truth. To be successful, you have to discard that notion or mindset that there is someone out there who bewitching you. The only person bewitching you is yourself, your mindset and your altitude. You have to learn how to discipline yourself, learn how to act, and react to the various situations in life.

Just as self discipline is a key to success, the lack of self discipline is the major cause of failure, frustration, under achievement and unhappiness. It makes us to under price ourselves and make excuses

The two biggest enemies of success, happiness, and self fulfillment are the Path of least resistance and the Expediency factor.

The Path of least resistance is what is also called shortcuts. There is no shortcut in life, likewise there is no shortcut to on the road to success. The Path of least resistance is what causes people to take the easy way in every situation. They seek shortcuts to everything. They come to office late and leave at the first opportunity. They look for get-rich-quick schemes and easy money. They develop the habit of always seeking an easier and faster way to get the things they want rather than doing what is hard but necessary to achieve real success.

The Expediency factor on the other hand is an extension of the Path of least resistance, is even worse when leading people to failure and under achievement. The principle behind this factor states that
People invariably seek the fastest and easiest way to get the things they want right now with little or no concern for the aftermath of their behaviors.
Simply put, people do what is expedient, i.e what is fun and easy rather than what is necessary for success and personal fulfillment.
Every minute and second of our lives, there is a battle going on inside of us between doing what is right, hard and necessary or doing what is wrong, easy and of little value to us. You must fight and win this battle with the Expediency factor and avoid walking down the Path of least resistance if truly you want to achieve everything you are capable of achieving.

Self discipline is the ability to do what you should do, when you should do it, whether you feel like it or not
